live in Glasgow and can only get certain digital radio stations others come up as being off air. can you help? would really liket o get talk sport and radio five live but cannot get them at all. can you help? dels replies replied: "yes introduction of digital is gradual in different parts of the country, Some not available for a year or more. I'm into rock bands like My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Simple Plan, All American Rejects, Fall Out Boy ect.

Try this site it's an online radio that has your kind of music." which radio stations can I pick up on AM/FM and digital radio stations can I pick up in postcode area EN7 5QD? i:M thinking of buying an am/fm/digital radio from my local store. to make it brief , so my question makes more sense is can you tell me which digital and analouge stations I can pick up in my u.k. postcode area which is EN7 5QD. somewhere in east herts. at furture stage might also buy analouge radio with sw/lw settings? so all the information available would help. for instance when a relative of mine uses sky digital she can get the north west version of smooth fm on her electronic radio program. while on my ntl digital tv service I can get the london version of smooth fm which is local to me. I also pick up some local bbc stations like bbc london , bbc essex and bbc 3 countries. I like listening to these stations. so wonder if I can still pick them up with a above radio set in furture. thank you for your time & I hope you can please help. as I would be very grateful. pardon me if my spelling of analouge radio is incorrect. In the same room I have a TV system which incldes a digibox. The digibox can pull in many digital radio stations. If i plugged my digibox into the HiFi would the sound quality be the same? lpool109 replied: "it depends on two things, the quality of the device recieving and the speakers you play it on, its all about sound quality and uniterupted sound, ou can get cheap dabs which have less quality recieving than expensive ones. dnt be baffled, its the same with everything... the more you pay the chances are the better quality it is, so to conclude, dab and digi box both recieve digital waves... if you are only going to put it through your hifi then id go with the digibox if your dab aint fancy as it recieves from a huge dish or powerful antenai and ur dab recieves through a small metal arial

jmswrth replied: "hi, The feed that goes to Sky/Freeview/Cable comes of the FM mast."
Jonathan replied: "They are digital, the only variation you might hear would be due to the electrical characteristics of the wire between your DAB radio or Digibox and the Hi-Fi. Think of this too - you're plugging a digital source into an analogue output, so you're (in theory) losing some signal quality by doing so.
One advantage of the Digibox though is that it should be available to all areas (DAB radio is not available everywhere yet), one disadvantage is that you probably need your TV on in order to switch stations (correct me if I'm wrong) so waste electricity.
Better to use a DAB-enabled Hi-Fi and miss out the old Hi-Fi altogether!"
elvis_liveonstage replied: "DAB is a more natural sound, the signal (from the BBC anyway) is taken before it is compressed & clipped for FM transmission.
The Freeview & SKY sound is taken from the FM feed."
bunnydo1 replied: "The signal received by both systems is exactly the same so theoretically it should be the same.
But the standard of the electronics manufacture in the Digibox as opposed to the radio may be significantly different.
Also as you are probably aware the more speakers you have in a room, from different systems, the more chance there is of the quality of the sound being distorted by vibration." |
